Description
The stables located to the south-west of Moor Farmhouse date back to the 17th century and feature a combination of timber-frame construction with brick infill, set on stone rubble and brick walls. The rear of the building also has stone rubble and brick walls, topped with hipped and gabled roofs made of slate and plain tiles. The structure has an L-shaped plan, with the stable wing running east-west and a storage range extending to the north.
On the exterior, the south front showcases loft-level square framing, including girding beams, studs, and middle rails, which are supported by partly open bays with brick piers. To the right, there is a recessed two-bay stable made of rubble stone, featuring a stable door on the left. Adjacent to this is a 19th-century storage wing that has a hipped plain-tile roof, with reused square framing that has been infilled with brick and set on a high rubble stone plinth.
The left return gable is constructed from stone rubble and includes stone granary steps leading to a first-floor plain boarded door and door frame. At the rear, the granary has a stone rubble wall with a stable door set under a segmental arch, complemented by brick quoins. The stable to the left features a brick wall with a stable door and a window opening, both adorned with brick segmental arches. This building forms a group with Moor Farmhouse and the barn to the north, contributing to its group value.
