Description
The barn at Little Blackhill Farm is a structure dating from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It is built from coursed slatestone rubble and features a gabled slate roof with diminishing courses. The barn has a six-bay plan with a central threshing floor and is a single storey. The front includes 1980s plank double doors, which are flanked by ventilation slits, and there is a timber lintel above a window opening to the right. Triangular ventilation holes are located on either side of the double doors at the rear. To the left, there is a lean-to cart bay from the 18th century, which has a full-width opening. Inside, the barn has a trenched purlin roof that includes a diagonally set ridge purlin and raking side struts supporting the trusses.
