Town'S End And Adjoining Garden Wall To North-West

Town's End is a farmhouse built in the early 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It features red brick construction with a sandstone plinth and hipped slate roofs. The building has an irregular H-shaped plan, with wings extending to the south and a central entrance flanked by end stacks. It stands two storeys high, with attics and cellars, and includes a dentilled eaves cornice and a string course. The facade has a layout of 1:3:1 bays, with glazing bar sash windows that have segmental heads. The outer windows are located at the ends of the wings, flanking the central three bays, which are topped with a pediment and a blind roundel in the tympanum. There are also blocked openings on the first floor and a central decorative porch with a six-panelled door. An original mash window with thick moulded glazing bars remains intact at the rear, which also features a rear pediment that retains an illegible fire insurance plaque. Inside, there is a fine 18th-century panelled room located in the south room of the west wing. Adjacent to the house is a garden wall that extends to the north-west, forming a square garden enclosure with an entrance in the east wall and another to the south.
