Description

Hall End Farmhouse is a mid to late 17th century farmhouse, with a lock on the front door dated 1674. The building is rendered with a plain tiled roof and features brick stacks. It is designed in an L-plan gabled vernacular style, with a south elevation that has two storeys and attics beneath steep gables. There are three 19th and 20th century two- and three-light casement windows with segmental heads. The central plank door is set in a double ogee moulded surround with a depressed four-centred head and has a large wooden bar on the inside. A 20th century porch is located under a flat stone hood supported by brackets. At the rear, there is a stair turret in the re-entrant angle.

Inside, the door surround to the southwest room features guilloche moulding and double scroll stops, along with a depressed four-centred head. The door to the north gable is heavily panelled with a double ovolo moulded surround and a four-centred head. The interior also includes ovolo moulded beams with converging stops, a spice cupboard in the southwest room, and another finely carved spice cupboard in the first floor east room. All first floor door surrounds have ovolo mouldings and stops, and the roof features extended collar beams.
