Description

Two barns, dating to the 17th and early 18th centuries, with later alterations. They are located approximately 15 metres north-east of Old Pont-faen. The barns are timber-framed, with weatherboarding on a rubble plinth, and have rubble, stone slate roofs. The east/west barn has five framed bays and a central threshing floor. The timber framing is three panels high to the wall plate, originally with woven infill. The intermediate trusses have two raking struts with collars, and the gables feature five queen struts to the collar with V-struts in the apex. Ridge and trenched purlins are also present. The north/south barn has four roof bays, a threshing floor south of the centre, and two storeys of ventilation slits. The trusses in this barn feature two raking struts.
