Description
Pontvaen is a mid-19th century house built in a Tudor-Gothic style, featuring rusticated stonework and a tiled roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and two chimney stacks. It stands two storeys high with two gables on the left side and a recessed wing on the right that includes a reconstructed verandah supported by 20th-century stone pillars.
There are two windows beneath the gables; the left gable is larger and projects slightly forward compared to the right. The windows consist of 2- and 1-light casements with Gothic glazing in the upper panes. On the ground floor, there is an angled bay window with a hipped slate roof on the left, and to the right, a single light casement. All casements feature square labels, and the gables have shaped barge boards. The right gable displays a blank shield. The entrance is located on the right side of the gabled portion and features a 6-panelled door, with the upper three panels having 2-centred heads. At the rear, the service wing includes a small turret topped with a pyramidal roof and a weather vane.
