4/95 The Ford [previously listed as Cottage (occupied by Mr Phillips)] 150 yards 21.1.67 south of Lane Farm

Cottage. Possibly C16. Timber-frame, pantiled roof and local type stone stack with detached brick shaft. Two storeys and attic. Two bays aligned north-west/south-east. Main north-east elevation has two mid-C19 case- ments, one of six lights to right side of ground floor, the other to left side of first floor; 9-paned square light to right side of first floor; entrance to left of centre. Frame: overhang of south-east gable upper floor over ground floor is supported on two brackets, one on each corner posts; four panels from cill to wall-plate; struts from corner posts to wall-plates and ties; collars in gables support V-struts. Interior: principal room has beams with deep chamfers and ceiling joists laid flatly; plain chamfer stops and two-thirds of the way up the jambs of doorway to an upstairs room with a ledged and beaded C17 door (RCHM Vol II, p 180).
