Description
Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, featuring plaster and brick infill, and has plain tiled roofs. There is an external local stone stack with a detached brick shaft located to the north-west. The building has a square plan with two gabled bays on the south-west side, which face a two-bay cross-wing at the rear. It stands two storeys high with attics, arranged in a two by two bay layout.
The south-west elevation displays two gabled fronts, with the left gable being slightly narrower than the right. On the ground floor of the left gable, there is a 12-paned early 19th-century casement window, and above it, a similar window with nine panes. The right gable features a two-light mid-19th-century casement window on the first floor, and below it, slightly left of centre, there is a ledged door. Both gables have exposed collar beams; the left gable is supported by two queen struts, while the right gable, being wider, is supported by three. The frame consists of four panels high, and the south-east gable includes V-struts above the collar.
