Description
Ford’s Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble, with pantiled roofs and coped raised verges. The building is three storeys and two bays wide on the left side, and two storeys and one bay wide on the right. The windows are casement type, with three lights on the ground floor to the left, under segmental heads and dripmoulds. On the first floor to the left, the windows have five lights, set in ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds under dripmoulds. The right-hand side features a five-light casement window with ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds, also under a dripmould. The central entrance has a studded plank door with strap hinges and fleur-de-lys finials, set within an ovolo moulded surround. A rear stair tower is present. The interior includes a rear newel staircase. A door to the hall has a segmental head, while the door to the kitchen features strap hinges with open scroll ends. The kitchen also contains a large chamfered beam over the fireplace and a further winder stair.
