Description

BROBURY CP - SO 34 SW 5/46 Wainhouse about 50 yards south-west of Old Court

GV II

Wainhouse with loft and stable, now store. Probably C18, incorporating C17 framing, with later alterations. Timber-frame on brick and sandstone plinth with weatherbording and corrugated iron roof. Seven bays aligned east/west. North elevation has one square opening to former loft and three gabled dormers. Bays are divided by oak posts producing an open ground storey except for a bay of weatherboarding to left of centre and another to the right-hand side with a ledged door. Frame of rear wall is three square panels high from cill to wall- plate. Interior has four trusses which have two pairs of parallel raking struts. Penultimate truss to west has two collars separated by two vertical posts, the lower collar being separated from tie by a further four vertical posts. One truss has a C19 king-post carrying struts to principals. Included for group value.
