National Westminster Bank

The National Westminster Bank, located at No. 12 The Homend, is an 18th-century building that has undergone significant alterations. The front is stuccoed, while there is a red brick wing at the rear. The ground floor features rustication, and the building has a slate roof with gabled ends. A decorative modillion eaves cornice enhances the structure, along with a central pediment that includes a lunette and keyblock. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a window arrangement of 2:3:2. The central section projects forward and is flanked by pilasters, with sash windows that lack glazing bars. The three first-floor windows in the center are round-headed and feature keyblocks, while the center window is blocked. On the ground floor, there is one round-headed window and three elliptical-headed windows, all with moulded architraves. The doorway, which is round-headed and located off-center to the left, includes a fanlight and a panelled door. An entablature is present over the ground floor's center and right sections. The red brick wing at the rear dates from the 18th century and has segmentally headed openings with casement windows. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 12 to 30 (even).
