Description
The stables, located about 35 yards north-west of Hellens, are likely from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. They are constructed of brick and feature a tiled roof, with a rectangular plan that runs north to south.
On the west elevation, there are four lunettes positioned to the left and center, situated below a projecting brick eaves cornice. A stable door divides these lunettes into pairs. To the right, there is a deep semi-circular headed window, accompanied by a second stable door at the far right. The south gable includes a central lunette above slightly off-center double-leaved ledged doors from the late 19th century.
These stables are part of a group that includes a nearly six-bay barn and cow shelter, as well as a stable block, all connected by a link wall to Hellens. They are included in the listing for their group value.
