Description
Parting Ground Cottage is a house that likely dates from the early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and features wattle and brick infill. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, while there is a stone external end stack of local type with a detached brick shaft facing the road, and a side stack on the left. The cottage is probably made up of three framed bays that are aligned roughly east to west. It has two storeys and two windows.
On the south elevation, there are three late 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor that are spaced regularly, and two mid-19th-century four-pane iron casements on the first floor, one located to the left and one roughly in the center. To the right, there is a lean-to extension that is weatherboarded and has a roof made of corrugated iron. The frame of the cottage consists of four panels high, with straight braces to the corner posts, and there are indications that the top row of panels is an addition made to raise the roof.
