Police Station, now Probation Service offices. Later C19. Ashlar; brick; hipped Welsh slate roof; ashlar lateral stack and 2 ridge stacks. L-shaped plan. 3 storeys; 5-window range: central plain sash, flanked by paired plain sashes, with moulded architraves and hoods; moulded sillband to central bullseye window, with fluted keystones and pilasters, and flanking plain sashes, with moulded pediments breaking moulded eaves-cornice. Entrance to centre left: 6-panel double doors and plain fanlight, under semicircular arch on fluted pilasters; roundels with Crown and V.R. to spandrels; moulded architrave and hood. To left, paired plain sashes, with similar arches and mouldings; balustrade overall. To right, paired plain sashes, and moulded drip-course continuing over single storey wing with 2 bullseye windows, and plank door. Right returned side: brick. Left returned side: 2 tiers of paired, plain sashes; single sashes with pediments, over; various moulded bands; entrance to left, with moulded hood, pad, architrave, and recessed, half-glazed door and plain overlight, in moulded case. INTERIOR: straight flights of stairs, to front and rear. 2nd floor: 2 fireplaces with wood surrounds; exposed chamfered trusses; architraves to doors and windows; wall cupboard. 1st floor: architraves to windows; ceiling cornice; 4-panel doors with architraves; wall cupboard. Ground floor: 4-panel doors; architraves to doors and windows; wood fire surround; former cells; ceiling cornice to rear hall; picture-rail and cornices; slate(?) fireplace; arch with architrave to hall; herringbone wood partition. Cellar: tiled floor; brick-lined.Included for group value.
