Description
The Fewtrell monument, located about 12 yards southeast of the south porch of the Church of St Mary, is a chest tomb dedicated to Thomas Fewtrell, who died in 1790. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a moulded base and flat moulded capping. The tomb is adorned with fluted corner balusters and curved recessed panels on each side. At the center of the capping, there is a large sandstone urn, which is likely a later addition. According to the inscription, Fewtrell served as steward to William Brydges and later lived at Church House Farmhouse.
