Description
This barn, located about 25 yards west-north-west of High Town Cottage, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble, with weatherboards and a corrugated iron roof. The barn has five bays that run roughly north to south and features two levels.
On the east side, there are two openings with ledged shutters on the first floor, positioned to the left of a central gabled porch. Below these shutters are two vent slits, and between them is a small opening with a ledged door. The porch itself has two-leaved ledged doors and a weatherboarded gable. To the right of the porch is a cow shelter that has a catslide lean-to roof.
The west elevation includes tallet stairs that rise from the north to a ledged door on the right-hand side. Inside, the barn features trusses with raking struts connecting the ties to the principals.
