HAREWOOD CP SO 52 NW 3/46 Barn about 90 yards south-west of Grange Farmhouse

GV II

Barn. Late C18 to early C19. Sandstone rubble with pantiled roof. Five bays aligned north-west/south-east. South elevation: two rows of five vent slits, symmetrically placed to each side of central ledged 2-leaved opposed doors to threshing floor, above the doors is a single row of square timber-framed panels. North elevation has corresponding row of panels above central doors, owl hole to apex of each gable. Interior has pegged king- post trusses and three purlins to each roof slope; unusually, each king- post carries, towards upper two sets of purlins, two pairs of struts extend- ing at different angles from corbel-like projections to the principals which also have struts from ties to lowest purlins.
