Description
The building consists of a cowhouse, stables, and granary located about 50 yards north of Lawton's Hope. It likely dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. The cowhouse features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with wattle and plaster infill, along with corrugated iron cladding on the southwest elevation and roof. The stables and granary are constructed of brick and have a roof made of tile and Welsh slate. The structure has a rectangular plan oriented northwest to southeast, with a four-bay cowhouse on the northwest side and attached stables on the southeast side. It has two levels. The southwest elevation of the cowhouse is mostly hidden by corrugated iron. The stables and granary to the right include two oak mullioned openings next to a ledged granary door, with stairs leading up to it from the left. The ground floor features a pair of segmentally headed openings flanking a wagon entry with a similar arch. Inside the cowhouse, there are raking-strut trusses. The granary includes pegged king-posts with pairs of raking struts extending from the king-posts to ties that connect to the principal beams.
