Description

EATON BISHOP CP - SO 43 NW 2/60 Barn about 20 yards south of Marsh House Farmhouse - II Barn. Probably early to late C18. Sandstone rubble base and timber-frame with weatherboards and woven infill. Half-hipped tiled roof. Seven bays aligned west-north-west/east-south-east. South elevation has two boarded openings set in weatherboarding, one to each side of ledged two-leaved doors with cambered head. The doors are to the left of centre and above the head are short studs rising to the wall-plate. North elevation has two rows of woven panels beneath the wall-plate. Interior has pegged king-post trusses each with two pairs of parallel struts, one pair rising from king-post, the other from tie-beam. King-posts each unusually have five pegs securing them to the beams. The wall-framing is in heavy scantling with three square panels from cill to wall-plate suggesting a remodelling of an earlier barn. Marsh House Farmhouse is not included in this list.
