Upper House and adjoining outbuilding and hop kiln

Farmhouse and adjoining outbuilding (probably a malthouse and granary) and hop kiln. C17, origins, remodelled and refaced mid-C18 with further mid-C19 alterations. Part timber-framed, faced with handmade brick, part sandstone rubble with machine-tiled roofs (hipped at west end and rear, raised to front) and brick end stacks. Mainly three storeys with three-course band between ground and first floors. One plus three bays. Windows are mainly C19 casements. Three-bay part has two ground floor 3-light windows, three first floor leaded windows and three first floor 2-light windows. Single- bay part to left is built of rubble to second floor level and has a ground floor cross-casement, a first floor 3-light window and a second floor 2-light window. A lean-to rubble outshut at the left end has a 2-light ground floor window in its front elevation. Rubble two-storey wing to rear right has main entrance in angle with front range with C20 hipped roofed brick porch and six-panelled door. Outbuilding is situated between rear wing and hop kiln to rear centre of main range. Two levels. Three bays. It has a 2- light window and a square window on the ground floor, and two upper level 2-light windows. External sandstone steps lead up to a loft door and there is also an entrance with a ledged and battened door on the ground floor. Hop kiln is mid-C19 and adjoins the west end of the outbuilding. Brick with pyramidal slate roof and no cowl. Square plan opening with cambered head in north side (RCHM, Herefs III, p 74, item 4).
