Description
The outbuildings and hop kiln adjoining Lower Town Farmhouse date from the early and late 19th century. They are constructed from a mix of rubble and brick, topped with a plain tiled roof. The original section consists of two bays, which has been extended to the west by an additional two-bay section that includes a malthouse and a hop kiln at the far west end. The structure has two levels.
On the south elevation, the rubble section features a ground floor 6-pane window with a cambered head, two first floor 2-light windows, and a stable door with a cambered head located to the left of center. The brick section displays a dentilled eaves cornice and has header ventilation patterns at the first floor level. It includes two ground floor 6-pane windows with cambered heads, two first floor 2-light windows, and a central stable door with a cambered head, flanked by blocked window openings. The adjacent malthouse is a single bay and has a square hop kiln at its west end, which features a pyramidal slate roof and a louvred gabled cowl. The drying floor inside the kiln is still intact.
