Description
This building is a stable that has been converted into a cow house, located about 65 yards north of Court Farmhouse. It likely dates from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. The structure features a sandstone rubble plinth and is timber-framed with weatherboards and a corrugated iron roof. It is one storey high with a loft and consists of two bays aligned north to south.
On the east elevation, there is an entrance to the left of the center, and below the wall-plate, two panels of riven oak laths are visible. The frame consists of three panels high from the plinth to the wall-plate. Inside, there are raking struts connecting the ties to the principals. The size of the framing and the presence of holes and grooves in the rails suggest that the building was originally not covered with weatherboarding. This cow house is an important part of the farm group associated with Court Farmhouse, which is situated around the parish church.
