Description
Apple Tree Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century or 18th century. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with brick nogging, topped with a tiled roof and a brick stack. The building has a rectangular plan aligned north-east to south-west and consists of one storey and an attic.
On the north-west elevation, there are two sets of two windows, along with gabled early 20th-century dormers that have 2-light glazing bar casements. The ground floor also has five similar windows. The right side of the building is slightly lower than the left. The entrance is located to the right of the center and features a ledged mid-20th-century door. The timber frame consists of two panels from the cill to the wall-plate. The interior was inaccessible during the last survey in February 1987, but it is noted that the roof trusses are said to be unmutilated.
