Description
R E Williams and Sons, Butchers is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates back to the 16th century and was refronted in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame that is clad in painted brick and topped with a tile roof. The main stack is located on the rear wall and has a brick shaft.
The east front of the building is two storeys high and has two windows, both of which are glazing bar sashes. The ground floor showcases a pilastered shop front that includes consoles supporting a moulded cornice, an over-fascia, and a blind box. The design is symmetrical, with four-light windows that angle inward at the centre, leading to a two-leaf half-glazed door. Inside, exposed ceiling beams reveal that the building originally jettied out towards the street.
