Description
Slatchwood is a house that has been divided into two tenements, with No 1 on the east side and No 2 on the west side. It likely has origins from the 17th century and has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century and the 20th century. The building is timber-framed with painted brick infill, sandstone stacks, brick shafts, and a tiled roof, along with later brick additions at the rear.
The structure consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, facing north, with a later extension at the rear. The entrances are located on the east and west sides of the rear extension, and there are gable end stacks. The house is two storeys tall, with the north front featuring two 2-light casement windows and two pairs of similar windows on the ground floor. The framing is mostly intact, though it has been altered and the roof has been raised. The framing generally consists of four square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with weatherings on the horizontal members of the gable.
