Description

The Moats is a house, dating to the 17th century, and possibly earlier, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, now covered by an asbestos roof. The house has a sandstone plinth and an external stack built of stone to the south-west gable end, along with a later brick stack to the rear. There is weatherboarding on the north-east gable end, and an entrance in the north-east gable.

The house is single-storey and has an attic. The north-west front faces northwest, with a dormer window containing a 2-light casement, and a single-light window below the eaves, both positioned centrally. To the right are two single-light windows and a 2-light casement window at ground floor level. A ledged door is located in the gable end. The timber framing is largely complete, displaying three square panels from sill to wall-plate, with angle braces to the wall-plate.
