Description

The Steppes is a late 17th-century house, with later additions from the early 19th century and alterations in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill panels above a rubble ground floor, and has a slate roof. The rear (north) elevation features two lateral stacks. The south front is two storeys high with an attic containing three gabled dormers. It has three windows on the upper floor, all with two-light casements and plaster square labels. The ground floor has two three-light casements, also with plaster square labels. A 19th-century gabled tiled porch with plain wooden posts supports a ledged and boarded door within a wooden architrave, which is framed by three square panels. The west gable contains a truss with a collar and V-struts in the apex.
