Description
This is a chest tomb dedicated to Joseph Thomas, who died in 1814. It is located about 11 metres southeast of the south porch of the Church of St Andrew in Bredwardine. The tomb is made of ashlar and features bold corner balusters, a slightly raised rectangular inscription panel, a moulded cornice, and a bevelled top. The inscription reads: "Underneath in hope of a joyful Resurrection/ are deposited the Remains/ of Mr Joseph Thomas Late of the Old-Court/ in this Parish who departed August 10th 1814/ and lived to the Age of 82 [2 recut over 4]/ A most exemplary Father and Friend/ lamented by all who knew him."
