Description
The lych gate in Monnington-on-Wye dates from the late 17th century, with some restoration from the 19th century. It features a timber frame with rendered and plank infill, topped by a stone tile roof. The structure has a square plan and gabled roofs on all sides. The north and south faces include moulded architraves around square-headed doorways, which are flanked by narrow rectangular panels. The east and west walls have rectangular panels below with planks set in grooves, while the upper sections are open and feature pierced splat balusters. Each gable is supported by two curved raking struts and has bargeboards with light mouldings, and the apexes are adorned with pendant finials.
