Description
2 Broad Street, including Portland Garage, is a house and garage that may date back to the 17th century but was encased in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. The building is likely timber-framed and clad in roughcast brick, topped with a slate roof.
The west front has two storeys and features three windows, all of which are twelve-pane sashes set under segmental heads. On the ground floor, there is a garage to the left with a 20th-century recessed shop front and a fascia above. To the right of the garage, there is a sixteen-pane sash window under a segmental head. The entrance, located to the right of centre, features a pilastered wooden doorcase with a segmental canopy. The door itself is six panels high and has an overlight above it. The right-hand gable truss includes a collar and trenched purlins.
