Description
No. 3 Broad Street is a house dating from the early 17th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, set on a coursed rubble plinth, and topped with a machine tile roof. It consists of two framed bays that are aligned east to west, with a stack at the rear (eastern) gable made of rubble and a brick shaft on the south wall.
The west front is gabled and has two storeys, with two windows on the upper floor, both of which are 2-light casements set beneath a continuous plank weathering. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows with tripartite glazing, also under a continuous plank weathering. The entrance is located at the left-hand corner and features a 19th-century gabled slated canopy above a ledged and boarded door. The framing of the house includes four square panels high, five struts to the cambered collar, and V-struts in the apex.
