6/26 Barn, cartshed and cattle stalls about 20 metres north east of New Farmhouse II

Barn, cartshed and cattle stalls. Early C19. Coursed rubble, stone slate roof hipped to south end with ceramic ridge; corrugated iron roof to cattle stall. 5 roof-bay barn with central threshing floor to north end, 3 roof-bay cartshed to south, 8 bay range of cattle stalls at right angles to barn, all of one build. Barn: large cart door, 2 storeys of vertical ventilation slits. Cartshed: open arcade with circular pillars, supporting wooden lintel above which are single square panels of timber-frame with wattle-and-daub infill; stone steps to upper floor at north end within cartshed, probably a granary. Roof: all trusses have king posts with 2 raking struts from their base. Cattle stalls: 8 bays, single storey open to yard, bays defined by circular stone pillars. Re-roofing in progress at time of survey (July 1984).
