5/23 Barn, granary and outbuilding about 25 yards west of Oldfield Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, granary and stables, now outbuilding. Stables dated 1711 near owl hole in east gable-top. Sandstone rubble with corrugated iron roofs hipped at the junction of the two ranges. L-plan with former stable range aligned east/west and five-bay barn attached to north side of west end; two-bay granary attached to north of barn. East elevation, towards Oldfield Farmhouse (qv), has gable front of stable range with vent-slits to upper floor on the left, cart-entry into middle bay of barn just to the right of junction of the two ranges, four vent loops to right of cart-entry and stone tallet stairs to ledged door of first floor of granary to right hand side. Interior: barn has collar trusses with three purlins to each slope; granary has dropped tie- beam truss. Forms a close group with Oldfield Farmhouse (qv).
