Description
This building complex consists of a barn, granary, and outbuilding located about 25 yards west of Oldfield Farmhouse. The stables are dated 1711 and can be found near the owl hole in the east gable-top. The structure is made of sandstone rubble and features corrugated iron roofs that are hipped at the junction of the two ranges. It is arranged in an L-shape, with the former stable range running east to west and a five-bay barn attached to the north side of the west end. A two-bay granary is connected to the north of the barn.
The east elevation, which faces Oldfield Farmhouse, showcases the gable front of the stable range, featuring vent-slits for the upper floor on the left side. There is a cart-entry located in the middle bay of the barn, just to the right of where the two ranges meet. To the right of the cart-entry, there are four vent loops and stone tallet stairs leading to a ledged door that accesses the first floor of the granary.
Inside, the barn has collar trusses with three purlins on each slope, while the granary features a dropped tie-beam truss. This building complex forms a close group with Oldfield Farmhouse.
