Description
Treferanon Farmhouse is probably from the 17th century, with significant alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with sandstone and gault brick dressings. The farmhouse has Welsh slate roofs and brick stacks. The building is arranged in an irregular plan, with two storeys and attics. The main front, facing east-southeast, has four windows and a gable front at each end. A two-storey gabled porch is located to the left of centre. The left gable has a buttress to the left corner and a late 19th-century sash window. The porch’s first floor has a two-light mid-19th-century casement beneath a segmental head. To the right of the porch, the ground floor has three sashes with gault brick jambs. The first-floor window to the right of the porch is a late 19th-century six-pane sash. The first-floor and attic windows of the right gable front are two-light mid-19th-century casements. The porch has a four-centred arch and hood mould, likely from the 17th century, leading to a ledged door. A mid-19th-century lean-to is attached to the right, incorporating a deep cellar with a barrel ramp, likely used for cider production. The rear of the farmhouse includes a kitchen and dairy arranged in a roughly quadrangle shape. The principal ground floor room to the right of the porch contains finely moulded beams with cyma chamfer stops.
