Description
Brinstone is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th, 19th, and late 20th centuries. It is constructed from roughly coursed sandstone rubble and features hipped Welsh slate roofs with brick end stacks. The building has a rectangular plan that is oriented roughly east to west, and it includes a cellar, two storeys, and attics.
The garden front faces north and has three windows with 6-pane casements, many of which are from the late 20th century. The central window is probably from the 18th century, while the two central windows are raised above the level of the outer windows. Below these, there are two 2-light mullioned openings that likely date from the 17th century. Access to the cellar is on the south side, where there are stairs leading up to a ledged door and another 2-light mullioned window.
To the east, there is an early 19th-century extension that consists of a lean-to and a gabled single-storey block.
