Description

The Old School is a building dating from 1846, as indicated by the inscription "ST WEONARDS / NATIONAL SCHOOL / 1846" on a tablet. It is constructed of roughly squared sandstone with a Welsh slate roof and brick stacks. The building has a roughly rectangular plan with a large single-story section to the left and centre, and a two-story section to the right, which served as the former schoolhouse.

The east elevation features a symmetrical arrangement of 1:3:1 windows. The left and central gable fronts have top-vent windows with glazing bars under hood moulds. The residential part on the right has 2-light casement windows. The central gable displays a six-pane window on either side of a central doorway, which features a moulded 4-centred head and a label. Above the doorway is a 12-pane window flanked by a pair of 4-pane windows, all three set under a stepped hood mould. The left gable contains another 12-pane window with a hood mould. The right part has a lower casement window, also under a matching hood mould, and a mid-20th century porch to the left.
