Description

The barn at Treago Farm, dated 1664 as indicated by a sundial on the south wall, is constructed of sandstone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs. It features a cruciform plan with side porches, comprising three bays on the north side and four on the south. The south elevation showcases a gable front with a wall that is battered for its entire height, an owl hole, the sundial with its date, four rows of vent slits, and a central diamond oak mullioned opening located beneath the sundial. There is an entry through a 17th-century ledged door on the south side of the west arm. The side elevations also contain three rows of vent slits, above which are five-light diamond oak mullioned openings. Attached to the north arm, and partly encroaching into it, is a 19th-century dwelling. Inside, the trusses are supported by triple angle struts with ties that rest on straight braces rising from oak corbels.
