Description

Church Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with extensions and alterations made in the early 20th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble, timber-frame with brick infill, and rendered brick, topped with Welsh slate roofs. The building features a sandstone rubble stack on the right side of a projecting wing, which has a brick shaft, and a brick end stack on the main range. The layout is in an L-shape, with the main range oriented north to south and the projecting wing facing west at the north end.

The west elevation displays a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with two sets of 2-light early 20th-century casements, steel in the gable front and wooden in the main range. A gabled porch provides access to the left side of the building. The rear, or east elevation, faces the churchyard of the Church of St Weonard and features irregular square timber-framing, with two panels high from the plinth to the wall-plate. This structure serves as an important enclosing feature for the churchyard.
