Description

Roshven House is a group of farm buildings dating from around 1860, constructed from harled and harl pointed rubble. The main barn and granary is an L-plan, two-storey structure. The west range features a rounded south gable, irregular window arrangement, and a wallhead stack on the west elevation to the right, along with a forestair leading to an upper door on the left of the east elevation. The north range has arrowslit ventilation in the east gable and is connected to the west range, with a loft door located at the re-entrant angle.

Adjacent to the northeast of the barn/granary is a cartshed and granary, positioned at right angles. This structure has three segmental-arched cart openings on the east side, ending at the northeast corner with a squat, engaged round tower topped with a conical roof and lead finial. The south gable has a half-hipped design with a hayloft door, while the north gable features a ground floor window and paired windows for the granary.

To the north of the cartshed and granary is a single-storey stable, which is also positioned at right angles. It has a rounded hipped gablehead, a wide door at the centre of the north side, and a small ventilator above the west gable.

There is also a single-storey bothy, a gabled cottage with doors facing south, small windows on the north side, and a stack at the east gablehead.

Finally, to the northwest of the barn/granary range is a carriage or implement shed, which is near-square in plan and features a gabled roof with a tall round arch on the north gable. The corners are rounded and corbelled to square at the eaves, and there is a roofless range adjoining to the east.

The buildings have grey slate roofs, with cast-iron rooflights on the granary and evidence of former small-pane sash and case windows.
