Description
The Episcopal Church of St Finnan in Kinlochmoidart was designed by Alexander Ross and built between 1858 and 1860, with a vestry added by the same architect in 1886. This simple rectangular church features a nave and a slightly lower chancel, both oriented east to west. The exterior is constructed of grey rubble with contrasting tooled sandstone dressings. A projecting gabled porch with a pointed-headed entrance is located at the southwest, accessed by a flight of steps. The south elevation of the nave and chancel is illuminated by three small pointed-headed lancet windows, with two similar windows in the west gable. The east gable of the chancel is adorned with a triple lancet window. Apex crosses are present at the east ends of both the nave and chancel, as well as on the porch. A small bellcote is situated at the west apex, and the church has a steeply pitched slate roof with crowsteps. The lean-to vestry, built in 1886, is located at the north of the chancel.
Inside, the church has a plain interior featuring a pointed-headed arch leading to the chancel, a painted altar front, wrought-iron communion rails, and stained glass in the east windows that commemorate the church's founders. The interior also includes a Gothic panelled pulpit and a simple square stone font.
