Description
St Ninian's Church in Glen Urquhart was designed by Alexander Ross around 1851. It has a simple rectangular plan with a shallow crowstepped projection at the east and a vestry that projects to the south. The church is mainly harled, with a rubble east wall, and features a crowstepped bellcote at the west.
The building has simple lancet windows, with three on both the north and south sides, three stepped windows at the east, and two on the west. There is a round arched door that possibly incorporates earlier masonry. The east windows contain abstract stained glass featuring a central cross, designed by Emma Shipton in 1986.
On the south vestry wall, there is a V-plan oriel window. Inside, the church has a rafter and arch-braced roof, with a tie beam at the chancel. The altar includes an early medieval stone with St Ninian's cross set in a panel. Additionally, there is Art Nouveau ironwork on the early 20th-century churchyard gate.
