10/67 Lower Kinton Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Possibly C16 or C17 with later alterations. Probably timber- framed and sandstone rubble. Roughcast walls, tiled and corrugated asbestos roofs. Large off-ridge stack with short brick shaft. Rectangular plan aligned north-west/south-east. Two storeys. North elevation has 1:1:2 windows, one 2-light late C18 or early C19 casement to left-hand side and a similar window to gable front to right of centre. Right part has a 2-light early C19 wrought iron casement and a 3-light casement. Ground floor has breeze block lean-to with ledged door to left. Gable has 2-light mid-C19 casement under roughcast jetty. Right part has 2-light casement and wide ledged door. Attached to left is slightly lower sandstone extension, possibly C17 or early C18. Interior noted has having heavy ceiling beams. (Access refused at time of resurvey, May 1986). (RCHM, Vol III, p 110).
