Description

Lower Kinton Farmhouse is a farmhouse that may date back to the 16th or 17th century, with later alterations. It is likely constructed from timber framing and sandstone rubble, featuring roughcast walls and roofs made of tiles and corrugated asbestos. The building has a large off-ridge stack with a short brick shaft and is arranged in a rectangular plan that runs from northwest to southeast.

The farmhouse is two storeys high, and the north elevation displays a pattern of windows with one 2-light late 18th century or early 19th century casement window on the left side and a similar window on the gable front to the right of the center. The right section includes a 2-light early 19th century wrought iron casement and a 3-light casement. On the ground floor, there is a breeze block lean-to with a ledged door on the left. The gable features a 2-light mid-19th century casement under a roughcast jetty, while the right section has a 2-light casement and a wide ledged door.

Attached to the left side is a slightly lower extension made of sandstone, which may date from the 17th century or early 18th century. The interior is noted for its heavy ceiling beams, although access was refused during the resurvey in May 1986.
