Description
This is a house, likely dating from the 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and timber-frame, with some areas rendered. The roof is slate, and there's a sandstone end stack with a brick shaft. The building has a rectangular, two-bay plan, running north to south.
The south elevation has a rendered gable. A late 19th-century three-light casement window is centrally positioned on the first floor, with a contemporary two-light casement above that. The ground floor has a late 20th-century French casement on the right and a contemporary two-light window to the left of centre. A large, weathered buttress is situated at the extreme left of the elevation. The west elevation displays exposed timber-framing with square panels in substantial timbers, including angle struts on the first floor. The upper floor framing is of a later, closer style, using thin timbers and long diagonal struts. The east elevation features windows with cambered heads; one window contains an early 19th-century wrought iron casement.
Inside, the roof structure includes trusses with pegged king-posts. The principal ground floor room has a fireplace with a slightly cambered oak lintel and chamfered stone jambs. The ceiling is divided into four regular panels by beams with straight-cut chamfer stops. A blocked doorway with a segmental head lies between two ground floor rooms.
