Description
This building is a barn and stables located about 25 yards south-east of Upper House, likely dating from the 17th and 18th centuries with later alterations. The barn features a weatherboarded timber frame and a corrugated iron roof, while the stables are constructed from sandstone rubble with tiled and pantiled roofs. The structure has a rectangular plan oriented north/south, with a five-bay barn to the south and stables to the north, comprising two levels.
On the west elevation, the weatherboarded barn is on the right side and has a central full-height entry. The stables on the left include two rectangular loft openings and three doorways, each with a segmental arch. A weathercock is positioned on the north gable. The east elevation reveals exposed woven infill within the barn's framing, which consists of two square panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. The stables to the right feature two vent slits in the lower part of the wall. Inside the barn, there are triple angle strut trusses, while the stables have queen strut trusses.
