Description
Number 10 Corn Square is a building that now serves as offices but was originally a house. It dates from the 17th, 18th, and 20th centuries. The structure features a timber-frame and render construction, with stick framing above. The central section is made of 18th-century brick, while the right side has 20th-century timber-frame and render. The roof is covered in plain tiles and is hipped to the left, having been raised in the early 18th century.
The building has three storeys and a three-window range. On the left, there is an 8/8 sash window in a moulded case, with a 3/6 sash window above it, and a 20th-century bow window on the ground floor. In the centre, there is an 18th-century 6/6 sash window in a moulded case beneath a segmental arch, with a gable dormer featuring a 20th-century 3/3 sash window above it, and a 20th-century panelled door in a moulded case. To the right, there is a 20th-century mullion and transom light and fixed light above a 20th-century six-panel door and bow window. The centre section also has 18th-century lead rainwater goods.
At the left rear, there is a wing with 17th-century timber framing and a steep-pitched plain tile roof, along with 20th-century casement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
