Description

Bodenham Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the 17th century that was refronted and re-roofed in the early 19th century, with further alterations around 1900. It is constructed from coursed dressed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves and brick stacks on the right side and rear. The building has two storeys and an attic with a dormer, and it is arranged in three bays. The ground floor windows in the outer bays and all first floor windows have cambered ashlar heads and are 3-light casements with transoms from around 1900, except for the ground floor window in the right bay, which retains its 3-light 19th century casement. The central entrance features a six-panelled door, consisting of four flush panels and two upper glazed panels, flanked by rectangular lights. There is a gabled dormer window with a 2-light casement on the right side, and later wings are present at the rear.

Inside, the farmhouse retains a 17th century roof truss and some 17th century ceiling beams. The central hall includes a dogleg staircase with turned balusters and square newels, likely from the early 19th century. This farmhouse is believed to have been the home farmhouse to Devereux Court and is now part of the Hampton Court estate.
