Description

BODENHAM CP BODENHAM SO 55 SW 5/16 Bodenham Court Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. C17 origins, refronted and re-roofed early C19 with further alterations of circa 1900. Coursed dressed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves and brick stacks to right side and rear. Two storeys and attic with dormer. Three bays. Ground floor windows in outer bays and all first floor windows have cambered ashlar heads and are 3-light circa 1900 casements with transoms (except for window on ground floor of right bay which retains its 3-light C19 casement). Central entrance has a six-panelled door (four flush panels and two upper glazed panels) and is flanked by rectangular lights. There is a gabled. dormer window with a 2-light casement on the right side. Later wings at rear. Interior: is recorded to retain a C17 roof truss and some C17 ceiling beams. The central hall has a dogleg staircase with turned balusters and square newels.- probably early C19. This is believed to have been the home farmhouse to Devereux Court (qv).
