Description

The White House is a house, likely dating from the late 17th century, that was remodelled in the mid-19th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, and has been stuccoed to the front and sides. The roof is hipped and covered in slate, with an external rubble chimney at the left end, featuring a 19th-century brick stack. The house has two storeys and three bays. The windows are single-hung, with nine panes of glass, and moulded architraves; the ground floor windows are larger than those above. A central gabled timber porch, with moulded posts, scalloped bargeboards, and a moulded finial, shelters the entrance, which has a half-glazed door. Inside, the rear wall-frame and cross-frames are visible. A timber-framed service wing is attached to the right of the main building. The house is located to the north of Tan-y-bryn and south-west of the Market Cross and Well Cottage. It is included on the list for its group value.
