Description

Pease Green Cottage is a 17th-century house that has been altered and extended in the late 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill on a sandstone rubble base, along with some rubble walling and a shingle roof. The cottage consists of two framed bays aligned east to west and includes an external rubble chimney with offsets, a detached brick stack, and a circular bread oven at the west end. It is a single storey with an attic that has dormers.

The framing includes three rows of square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar and tie-beam trusses that have three struts and a V-strut in the apex. Most of the windows are 20th-century casements. The main south elevation features a large multi-paned window and two doors, one of which is glazed, enclosed by a lean-to addition. This addition has a sandstone wall on the east side with a 20th-century door and a right side light, forming the main entrance. To the east of this addition are two additional multi-paned windows. There are also two raking-top dormers with 2-light casements and attic lights in the gable ends.

At the west end, a 20th-century addition continues the main roofline on the south side and backs onto the external chimney. The north elevation, facing the road, has a continuous lean-to outshut with a catslide roof and a row of six square windows.
