Description
BODENHAM CP BODENHAM SO 55 SW 5/22 Pease Green Cottage II
House. C17, altered and extended late C20. Timber-framed with rendered infill on sandstone rubble base, some rubble walling and additions and shingle roof. Two framed bays aligned east/west; external rubble chimney with offsets, detached brick stack and circular bread oven at west end. Single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: three rows of square panels from sill to wall-plate, collar and tie-beam trusses with three struts and V-strut in apex. Windows are mainly C20 casements. Main south elevation: large multi-paned window and two doors, (one glazed) enclosed by lean-to addition with sandstone wall on east side with a C20 door and right side light, (this forms the main entrance). To east of addition are two other multi-paned windows. Two raking-top dormers with 2-light casements. Attic lights in gable ends. C20 addition at west end continues main roofline on south side and backs onto external chimney. The north elevation facing the road has a continuous lean-to outshut with a catslide roof and a row of six square windows. (RCHM, Herefs Vol II, p 15, item 7).
