Description

Tan-y-Bryn is a house dating to circa 1700, with an early 20th-century addition and restoration in the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill on a sandstone base, and has a machine-tiled roof. A brick stack is located at the left end of the ridge. The house has three framed bays aligned north/south, featuring an external rubble chimney and a rebuilt brick stack at the north end. It is two storeys high. The timber framing consists of four rows of irregularly sized panels from sill to wall-plate, with collar and tie-beam trusses featuring two struts at the ends. The east front elevation has mid-20th century casement windows of three lights in the outer bays, with a central first-floor window of two lights. The central entrance has a gabled timber-framed porch and a 20th-century door. To the rear right is an early 20th-century wing, and at the north end is a mid-20th-century flat-roofed garage that encloses the chimney.
