Description

Middle Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the 17th century, significantly altered in the early 19th century and with further work carried out in the late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble with a pantile roof, coped verges, and three rendered stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a 1:3 bay arrangement. Most windows are 16-pane sashes with cambered brick voussoirs and irregular dressed stone jambs; the centre window on the first floor has brick jambs. The left bay features a 3-light casement window on the first floor, with a wooden lintol. A 6-panelled door, set within a chamfered stone surround with a stopped label, is located in the centre of the right three bays. Internally, the left side of the ground floor has a cross-beamed ceiling and a fireplace with a wooden bressumer. Another fireplace on the ground floor features a dressed stone surround with a cambered head. At the time of a survey in July 1985, the ground floor of the left bay was undergoing alteration.
